Because they can. What are you going to do, switch all your gear to a A9 or D5 or maybe some future Panasonic offering or such? Probably not.

That said if you're not yet stuck on Canon, obviously you can consider other options.

You won't be able to drive to more places or be more productive with the toy that lets you feel some acceleration.

But you might definitely be with one of the aforementioned cameras. Well, sooner or later you will probably have the same tech in a cheaper model. Probably sooner rather than later if competition on MILC continues at the current pace.

I went to a second hand market in my area and now I'm thinking of buying a D3 for 850€ with 7000 clicks (yes, seven thousand), it must feel great to shoot with one of those. DSLRs are bulky and conspicuous af anyway.

Only drawback is having to get a CF card reader.

In addition to being ridiculously durable and incredibly capable, I believe they are completely hand assembled and exist in much lower volumes than 5D cameras and below. That's why.

The fact that I only take portrait photos with my Canon EOS 20D.

I know its an old camera, but it seems anons on this board keep telling me that its still an amazing camera and that "a hammer and nail can do more than what they are used for"

Pic I took 3 years ago with that camera

I've found the rugged Delkin card reader works quite well.
I like how the cards are completely enclosed inside the reader.

The 20D is nice.
The only things to miss are the bigger viewfinders and slightly better colour rendition of the 1D/5D series.
