Do you really need the upgrade? I mean your X can't compete but it's still not that much of a difference (except your phone will do some agressive postprocessing)
I didn't had much time to test p30pro but it probably can't even zoom 2x in 40mp mode, which kinda kills the point of it for me.

Well, I have my phone through a contract, I'll eventually have to replace and I have no problem with using an android phone so that's why I asked.
I can't carry my dslr everywhere and it's always good to have a camera that's at least decent.

this is in black and white because the phone writes the files without a good colour profile, so in some conditions the colours turn in to uncorrectable puke-like mess.

just search ’XDA + your phone model’ and check the GCam thread so you'll know what version and type of modded GCam will work well with your unit, your Android version OS or custom rom. there's a text based website with the diff. modded GCams available, forgot the link tho. you might need to install camera2api via twrp, magisk or just edit the default.prop (needs root) to get the Gcam to work.

Some of the pics in here are pretty decent but I've never seen a single phone pic and not thought that it'd have been improved with a camera.
Can someone explain why phone-posting is a thing and why you (the few of you who are actually taking worthwhile shots) aren't using a a camera?

Redmi Note 7 with gcam. Edited the raw file in lightroom. I still need to try a port with the astro photography mode to see if it makes any difference. I also need to try this somewhere will less light. But I'm very impressed and happy with shit like this.
