I've been getting more into photography recently, and i've come to the conclusion that the vast majority of photogs are just gear fags. Photography itself is just a meme.
The majority of photos that photographers take aren't interesting in anyway, they're only interesting to them and other photographers because of the technical aspects of how the shot was taken, like how they got the subject in focus but background blurred, how they got that long exposure shot, how they got light to shine someway specifically on the subject, etc. Non photographers don’t give a shit, sure they’ll think wow that looks cool, but they won’t look twice. The only photos that interest the general public are shots that both tell a story and have a certain context behind them, even if compositionally it’s a mess.
And most photographers save up to buy these fucking expensive useless gear, it seriously fucks how they think, its fucked up how I think after I got into this shit. Now whenever I see something that’s $300 I think wow that’s dirt cheap. Are you shooting sport or wildlife? No, then you don’t need that expensive shit, you can just use old cheap vintage primes, why do you even need AF to shoot landscape or portraits? Even for shit like sports, just git gud with manual focus. You don’t need a f0.9 lens to get the blurred background, all you need is a phone camera and torrent photoshop, and you can get better blur and bokeh in your pics. You don’t need 60 megapickels, you’re going to be posting all of your photos on Instagram. Wat about the full frame meme? Probably the most autistic are filmfags, cuz the biggest satisfaction to them is the major inconvenience in shooting and developing film fully analog. No one gives a fuck about the look of film, people are gonna think you just put on some shitty Instagram filter.
