I don't really know what they can do to make it a serious improvement over D5.
Resolution? Not sure PJs shooting thousands of frames even want more.
High ISO or DR? Can't do a lot here, sensor tech hasn't improved much.
Autofocus? It's already mostly limited by lens mechanics.
Frame rate? Again, limited by mirror mechanics.
Video? It's an afterthought on this kind of camera anyway.
Bells and whistles like focus peaking? Nobody cares about those.

If Nikon can get the A9 sensor and tweak the firmware right, they could potentially reach around 90 FPS like the RX100 can.

Stacked sensors can reach very insane bursts.

No retard. Burst rate is buffer.

The A9 has a DRAM buffer inside the sensor.

a9 is based on second a7 generation of sensors. Is has no dram inside sensor. It's speed advantage is from being mirrorless. But it's laggy evf is big dealbreaker, that's why nobody uses it.
