it's not ideal but it's polyvalent and my other lenses are manual, thus a little unpleasant for a scenario like this

As far as I could tell it didn't change much after installing ML. At least there wasn't an obvious degradation. I'm also not using any CPU heavy features. The only issue I've experienced is exposure simulation sometimes not kicking in and ending up with completely blown out shots.
The play in question was extremely dynamic and there were few opportunities to take more than a single image before refocusing. I guess in a way it was similar to shooting sports, which I've absolutely never done
>>3532977I guess I'll try and get used to that. I never felt the need to change half press focus out of habit. I've only ever tried automatic tracking while filming people slowly moving around an evenly lit room, even then to mixed results. It was often going in and out despite minimal movement. It's probably a bit much to ask from an old mirrorless.
I've heard diverging opinions on whether I should use continuous focus on this camera, I'll need to find somewhere I can try it on something fast moving and see for myself
