>>3533148Tell story faggots breed nonsense, always trying to get their stupid, meaningless points in to threads first about photographs telling ULTRA DEEP LORE.
In this instance it's just this;
>a well balanced composition, elegantly and slickly incorporating the portrait>ultra simplified form implies an object relating to the person, hey isn't that neat ;^)It emphasizes the character of the (already well known) individual, there isn't a story happening here.
Let's try it the story book dissection method:
>moustache and cane of man in focus, there is a great tale about these in here I just need to find it.>he is in an equally balanced and confident pose>perhaps the cane and moustache give this man power to be confident>cracked it guys>photographer is a geniusThe elements in expressing a portrait are best used to emphasize the persons initial presentation before us. Trying to say something more profound about the person by adding elements often feels incredibly forced and contrived. And trying to find them as a viewer is almost just as cringey. It can be done by the right person; uncle Terry is - believe it or not - really good at this. Go through his books and you will see.
People always forget the base aims of producing a portrait, before the camera existed. It's almost as if nobody has ever picked up a drawing implement with any true purpose in here.
