First ever post here, what’s the best DSLR+Lens fo around $600 in total for macro photography? I love taking pictures of insects and if I could get a camera that does macro photography that’s even not a DSLR I would be highly satisfied. I’ll bump with photos from a macro lens on my iphone. Also a DSLR that can do long exposure astronomy shots.

I suppose it's better that you actually posted pictures though.

I still think you should do your own research and learn more about the genres of photography instead of blindly getting what /p/ suggests.

The general pointers are, buy used and try to get a higher tier of gear (prosumer and such), though for your budget you may need to look at cheaper options.

Think about what sort of focal length you'd like.
The 100mm macro from Canon is fine, but it may not allow you to get close enough to the subject without scaring it off, making it potentially worse than a regular longer telephoto lens

Suggest you read up on that first before you start spending the big bucks on /gear/ to take pictures of bugs, then wondering why your photos look shit.

Get Olympus 60mm f.2/8 and one the m43 bodies with body stabilization. You don't need the newest one, but stabilization is pretty important since that lens is without. Should get you very close to 600 all new. Even lower if you buy used.
