How should I dress If I wanted to take portraits of people in the street. I don't want to scare them or turn them off.

I usually roll with some Vans, cuffed dark jeans, and some white shirt with minimal design. Also shave (if it doesn't fit you) and clean your face faggots.

I act and dress like a dumb ass. Thongs, tshirt and shorts with a thrift shop ugly camera bag. If I need to stop when I find a photo opportunity, I put the camera up to my eye and fumble around with my camera, pretending to change the settings and pretend to take a photo of something dumb like a bunch of flowers, statue, building "the view" or whatever's around and when the times right move the camera to the framing I want, snap, move back to the boring thing and take camera down. Seems to work well and no one gives a shit or notices me. Other times I pre focus and snap a photo quickly and continue on my way with the flow of the crowd. I feel having a compact camera helps you fit in immensely, you can dress how you want but if you're swinging around a slr people are going to take notice.

Pretty much why I like my fuji, it looks old, and I can just pretend to adjust the dials on top all i want, and since they can see those dials, they can just assume I'm dialing things in.

Some other cameras is like why are you fumbling with your camera. there's nothing up top dude. If I'm looking at the screen on the back it's a dead giveaway I'm just looking at their picture.

I use an m4 and the fucking around with dials thing is based. Honestly it's probably just a calming technique for myself, but I like to think it makes me blend in more and look like an idiot, or buy myself time waiting for "the moment" rather than just staring and waiting like vulture.
