Not bad but underexposed. I let the luna ejecta just clip and try to preserve the terminator. Pic related is

The Moon is very bright in the sky and doesn't move that fast. You could drop your aperture and shutter speed by a stop or two, still be at base iso and still have a sharp image.

Shooting the Moon is fun but can quickly turn into an expensive gear quest.

uh the moon moves pretty fast at 480mm ISO noise really isn't an issue unless your up around 1600 or more
I usually shoot at 1/320 f13 with a higher ISO 200/400 then use PIPP and registax

Motorized equatorial mounts are very cheap now. You can get them with a free telescope attached and lots of gubbins if you search about.

If you live in a light polluted shithole like I do best stick to the moon and planets. big 'scopes fancy filters and hours of editing will never beat a trip to a dark sky site.

There just isn't enough resolution with 150mm, no detail only blurry moon, blurry moon is boring looking, I tried to make it as interesting as possible but at that resolution and noise level you really can't get away without having actual Photoshop skill.

This north american nebula was shot on a T6 with a EF 50mm STM in a bortle 9 100 frames stacked
praise be to DSS

Orion and Pleiades are coming into view so im hype plus better weather for good transparency

I do get discouraged by the light pollution here, thanks for the message and image. The Autumn skies do seem to "clear" in between showers.

DSS is great but a real ball ache. How something so simple could be so complicated for a first time user.

Not really. OIS helps with sudden movements, not Earth rotation.
Also, OIS should be disabled when shooting from tripod.
There are devices, called star trackers, which help you with rotating the camera so you can take longer exposures of the sky.

No, not much. I did 9 on the chroma noise and 14 on the lum. That was enough to knock out any trace of noise. The noise issue on mft is vastly overstated.

Here, check out a vastly overexposed test shot at ISO 25600 on an EM1.2 with the 300mm f4. Do you see any noise? Guess what my NR settings are for that pic.

14 lum, 9 chroma.

For stuff like this you need all of the above. A dslr isn't the tool for the job really. A modified webcam or dedicated planetary camera is "better". Capture video then stack the best frames to reduce noise and increase resolution.

Even with a nice tracker you need high shutter speeds for the Moon. The atmosphere fucks up IQ big time, you need to freeze moments of good seeing.

Not if you are taking pics of the clouds. Otherwise, you are force to do exposure bracketting if you want both.

in a single exposure, but I had to underexpose by like 3 stops and bring back in post to keep the moon from completely blowing out. Not many cameras are capable of doing this; even my old D810 would have significant color shifting once you pushed past 3 stops but the new D850 doesn't. The noise is visible at 100% but it's hardly an image killer. The moon also had to be lower in the sky since it gets brighter the higher it goes just like the sun.
