hey anons,

this is no undercover-advertisement, I really need somebodys help with trying to improve this fund-raiser, because I have no expierence whatsoever with doing fund-raiser stuff. It is for a project I worked on for roughly 9 years. Initially posted this on /ic/ and they told me to also post it here. thank you guys!!!

Why do you think anyone would want this?
You should start with the life story THEN ask for what you need. Remove the asking people to trust you part in the beginning. Just makes you more untrustworthy. Also, why the fuck did you start doing drugs if you had a good childhood?

By all means complete your project and follow your dreams but you should consider other perspectives than just your small world if you want your message to resonate with more people and get funded. I think its awesome you managed to start to fight your depression with photography, but this whole project seems egotistical and insensitive.

the photos are good and all but to be fair this kind of book you'll find at every artschool with a focus on photography. I visit the Werkschauen of HfG Offenbach and other artschools around Frankfurt frequently and this quality of work is very common (which is not bad). still I think its a very nice project to showcase in your portfolio. also 15k is way too much. cant figure out how these expenses add up. but nonetheless i wish you good look with your project.

Drugs affect people of all races. But I guess you're right that he wouldn't have any colored friends. What I mean is that it would make him much more sympathetic. Also, if you lack the sensitivity to appreciate the story of people from different cultures and races, you're not doing photography or art right.

I can appreciate it if it's somewhat genuine, but most of the time it isn't because it's done by american boomers with 0 sense of subtlety and they always feel the need to crank up the "le poverty and human suffering, and also clarity" dial to 11. Also, "appreciating the story of different people" doesn't necessarily mean having to include them in everything. Normies are 100% on board with tokenism now that it's been rebranded as "representation" and "inclusion", but not every story needs a character from every ethnic/cultural background.

to make a really compelling series in this style you need to give the audience a real sense of danger, they want to be tourists in a realm they've never entered

That's literally art. You take things that you enjoy or feel something about and you put them on a pedestal to emphasize them for other people to see. You focus and make your message clear. It can be anything, like a picture of a cool rock, or taking home a twig and putting it on a frame.

Also, art is separate from the artist so I don't think it matters that its made by american boomers.

And, OK, sure, you don't need to include different types of people in everything. That is true because in art there are no rules. But you have to think of the audience when you're trying to sell a product which is why most media is inclusive. Also, most people don't think twice about inclusion but definitely notice the lack of it, so its not normies being on board with "tokenism" or anything. That's just your view on it.

But anyways, this whole project seems like a more therapeutic, personal kind of thing and if you don't have the range its not going to sell. Its not even a finished story because you're not dead yet and you're not (fully) better yet.

So, crank your whole message up a notch or be doomed to fail.

Also, blaming your cousin for this shit is lame. You'll look better if you own up to it. "Unlucky circumstances" is fucking stupid, because we all have them. Own up to the fact you weren't strong willed enough to resist drugs. It'll make the whole "photography was therapeutic for me" argument sound better and it'll make you sound like you're much better off now.
