I love snapping pics with a great deal of preparation, but I always have a nagging feeling I am wasting creative energy on something that'll going nowhere other than my hard disk.
How to make photography purposeful without taking it as a career?

I used to play world of warcraft and as soon as I stopped enjoying it I quit. If you enjoy photography for the act of doing it then shouldn't that be enough to keep doing it? If you feel like it's a waste of time but can't justify why it's wasting your time then what is the issue? I'm not trying to break your balls but photography is fun. I don't self promote or do it for any other reason than I love capturing moments and people.

I just feel like if there was a space where I can display my work to other people too, I will be more at peace with my hobby. The feeling is equivalent to writing a good book and not being able to publish it.

Publish your work dude. I would rather critique your art which I will probably like than discuss your indecisiveness on a hobby that you enjoy. Make an IG to start or put some shit on here. We're mostly all here to see good photos. I wasn't trying to be rude but I don't see a reason to sugar coat why or why not you should pursue a completely normal and healthy hobby. Start shooting less and see if you miss it, it's a better hobby than sitting around watching garbage TV, at least you have an end product that you and others can enjoy.

Enter your photos into local contests, post them here, get a theme in mind and make a series and post it around. Theres a lot of things you could do to spice up your photography.
