Use a ziplock/sandwich bag if you're concerned about water damage. It works well in a pinch. You could also fashion a cover from an old broke umbrella if you cut off the outer fabric casing from the umbrella frame. If you hate the look of homerigged waterproofing then look for one on amazon

Thank you anon, I wish I could Invest into a full frame cam (preferably the d800e for financial reasons), but I'm too short right now, because I just moved out.

Right now I'm shooting more film than ever tho and occasionally digital
pic related was on my way to work (I know they are snapshits, but I also don't have too much time right now for big foto sessions)

Unfortunately one picture, which wasn't supposed to be on the film, happend to be on there. It's even worse in the next photo

Well I planned for a longer time now to invest in "something else". Mostly because I already used the shittest gear for years now. rusty aluminium tripods, welding glass as ND filters, my Nikon D80 for the longest time, in combination with the cheapest pair of lenses aviable on the market (manual nikkor 35mm / 50mm)

I still want to try out medium format photography tho. I mean I already have a folding camera, but it's kinda outdated to use. The Nikon D800 has been one of my dream cameras for years now. Maybe I'm just a dude who got brainwashed into newer cameras, but a man needs to have dreams I guess

Umbrella and water proof work boots.

My main concern is condensation building in the lens and camera body if you fuck up and your car/room temp is too different from the rainy environment.

Weather resistance, not weather proofing. I'm not going swimming with my cameras.

Rain is pretty shitty when the light is flat and dim and you lose all your values. Falling snow has the same issue, really boring contrast most of the time people shoot it. Changing weather is much easier to get a good shot.

I sold my D750 and got a D3. Boost the contrast, vibrancy, blacks, whites and sharpen the images. The 750 is dull and bland. It takes a bit to make the images pop. I’ve said in a previous thread that it’s magically in low light and god tier for photojournalist stuff but just never did it for me with the color rendition. Do you use light room? Could you share the raw file for this picture? Those BMW stripes really standing out against a “blacker” black would look really good. A little texture to a rain photo will show the rain drops a bit better too.

As a photojournalist I´ll take that as a compliment. And yes, It is very good in low light with the right lens combo.

Yep, different tools for different jobs and the D750 is the cheapest best newest DSLR for photojournalist stuff. I used to take useable photojournalist photos in almost pitch black conditions frequently. Convert to B&W and ISO 12,800 looked fine to tell a story.
