Is there a SINGLE brand of lights/tripods/softboxes that's not made in fucking China? I don't care what the price is, I can write off up to 500 euros in costs through my company and I just don't want to buy some cheap garbage and pay some fucks in Shenzhen.

Profoto stuff is really expensive, though it is really nice stuff. You can buy rebranded Godox lighting stuff from Adorama so you aren't directly giving the Chinese money.

Profoto discontinued their b2's so you can pick up a location kit for like $500-600 on ebay or your local camera shop. They're 250Ws which is like 5 speed lights. I've used the kit a couple times for studio and product stuff, it was good enough for me.

500 euros will only get you shit made in china. The Godox AD200 Pro kit costs $487, when you add in the Bowens mount accessory, you'll be at $550 or ~500 euros. When you factor in VAT, you've already exceeded your budget for just a single strobe and no modifiers or even the remote you need to control it.

There is nothing wrong with not wanting to buy shitty stuff or support slave labor and the West's #1 economic foe.

You can't avoid it altogether, but I try to minimize it. My telescopes are all made in America (albeit California, which might as well be China) and my cameras and lenses are all from glorious Japan. Even my bikes are made in Taiwan, one of the freest Asian nations. Yes, I actually make these decisions.

There are many “entities” that are not recognized as nations, but have a claim to nationhood due to language, culture, ethic origin or all the above. Examples like Catalonia, some separatist regions in the Balkans and Africa, etc.

Taiwan is in a peculiar situation that is neither a nation in the legal sense, nor in a cultural/linguistic/ethnic sense.
It’s like saying California is a nation because they vote differently (Democrat) and because they have some limited autonomy to administer their region (state rights).
