Even if DSLRs "died" you could shoot with them until you died. There's that much equipment out there.
As for EOS M dying, sales of EOS M keep increasing. It's taking over high end P&S / low end DSLR sales. But I would STILL recommend a used DSLR + Tokina 11-16 as I did here:
