What do I need in order to take pictures like this? can I just use any camera and then edit the pictures with some sort of software or do I need a specific type of gear to achieve the same feel?

I took this on a disposable camera that I got for about $20. You could go to a thrift store and find a camera from the 90's for $5 and get that aesthetic

Literally any dumpy 35mm P&S or early 00's digital P&S will get you this look. No more than 5MP on digital, preferably less than 3MP. Just pick one up from goodwill.

If you're looking for specific gear:
I have a Nikon Coolpix 800 from 1999 for that borderline surveillance camera level snapshit aesthetic. Takes CF cards, only 2MP, 30 frame burst, zone focus capabilities, shoots TIF files, and it only cost like $5. Kinda slow but it gets the job done.

Most of your shots are early digital or on cheap film but obviously it's quicker and easier using digital and filters these days, or do this >>3562667

To elaborate a bit more. The first upsidedown pic is on a cheap, fixed focus, 35mm, underwater film camera that I tossed some drug store film in, and that second is a disposable camera from the same drug store.
Having only just recently gotten into photography, I don't know if there is cheap film or not, but basically a cheap thrift store point and shoot with some film from a drug store will do justice

Love these mate, sick civics! I actually own myself an ep3 so I can't wait to take some edgy pictures.

From what you guys have mentioned I will buy a couple of P&S cameras since they are so cheap just to experiment and see how they behave and probably something a bit more fancier, from the few hours for research that I've done I have found a lot of these old zenit 35mm cameras (Zenit 11 & Zenit 12 XP models to be more precise) and they seem to be able to take some nice old looking pictures.
