I am still shooting with a D300 with zero problems with images. If I was shooting for large scale commercial work, then I would use a Medium Format camera for the larger file sizes required for the printing. Muh Mega Pickles is for gear /p/hags who want to boast about their gear due to skill inadequacy

That's just 8,3 MP.
Even my entry level EOS 2000D has a resolution of 6000x4000 pixels, what consumer grade display has a resolution that high?
Could you even tell the difference between 6000x4000 and 12000x8000?
I'd rather have more dynamic range and a better signal/noise ratio than more resolution.
Hell, most of my glass probably wouldn't even resolve much higher pixel densities.

Their "APS-C" mount (EF-S) is just a variation of their FF mount (EF) with the only significant difference beeing that the lens is allowed to intrude slightly into the body.
In fact they kind of did the opposite, their APS-C DSLRs have a FF mount.

Ok, but if Canon would have done that back then, they would probably have stuck to the regular EF-mount.
There are two compelling reasons for it:
>lens availability
The amount of FF lenses compatible with EF back then was hard to match.
>lazyness
EF just works.
They could also have used a shorter flange distance and an extender ring for EF and given it some marketing name.
Alternatively a EF-S would also be an option for FF lenses on mirrorless cameras.

Not sure if you knew, but billboards are usualy printed at ridiculously low DPI.
Something like 10-50 DPI are normal.
That leads to single digit MP images in most cases.
10 MP is allready overkill, assuming the image is sharp at a 100% crop.

K10D is a seriously good camera. Useable for the near future, and frankly has had an insane service life already.

It's only weakness is low light conditions, and thin dynamic range.

Glad I upgraded eventually, but glad I shot with it. Although desu I'm not shooting nearly as much as back in those days.

The fun part of these arguments is that you either get told 12 MP is enough to print 10 feet wide with no issues, or that everything needs to be 300dpi with little or no noise or the print is garbage. There is never an in between.

I've heard that 150 dpi is typically a more acceptable threshold and have done it to some extent in practice. Never printed larger than a couple of feet on the longest side if I'm honest though.
