Forest is good as a background/environment, not as a subject IMO. There's nothing for the eye to focus on so you just glance over the pic and go "meh".

Try to find something actually interesting in the forest and fill about 1/3 of your frame with it.

I want to convey some of the feeling of the environment. Give the viewer a little of the feeling of being there. Doesn't work so well if that environment is a blurry mess and a third of your frame is filled with something insignificant

I get your point, and it makes sense for other purposes, it's just not what I'm going for
