>>3572819>My work computer is a iMac retina with 16gb of ramYeah m8 but thats not a laptop, if were gonna go with desktops PC offers waaaaay more power with the thousands of dollars youlld expend in an iMac, plus you can still make your PC better and better each year, something that you cant with Macs, and if something breaks you can simply pop it out and change it with macs no youll probably have to sell your unit back to apple so you can buy a new one, but enough with apple shitty user treatment.
>Lightroom, when closed in windows, will continue to use up as much memory as it canThat depends on your version both of windows and Lr, and if its an old version, since the 8.1v most machines do release the memory, but even if they didnt you can release it manually and its not that big of a deal
But here are some proofs an Macbook Pro 15 vs an Aero 15 Classic (or severus from ASUS, MSI GE65 Raider, or a razer blade)
Mac has a Radeon pro 550x 4GB vs GTX 1671-6GB, both have the SAME i7, 16 RAM DDR4 but mac runs them up to 2400 Mhz (probably to save in modules) and the aero runs them up to 2600 Mhz, in PS, DaVinci resolve, after effects, or cinebench the aero crushes the mac in perfomance, the only times the mac beats the aero is in time it can render faster, export faster (1 or 3 minutes faster) but those couple of minutes cannot put the mac over the aero when in pretty much in any other task is better, the screen is meh the aero is FHD and mac is retina display, but thats up to the user, at the end of the day it comes to money and preference, if you want something that you can use for everything, that it will last, that wont have to ditch it if it has a small failure, and that wont cost you an eye and your liver, buy the aero, if you dont want all these things buy a mac.
