It makes perfect sense if you don't like taking your expensive digital cameras on dangerous adventures where they can easily get hurt so you take cheap film cameras instead. Lomography Simple Use 35mm film camera is less than 20$. If it falls down the cliff or gets stole it is no big deal.

That sort of makes sense. Good film cameras and lenses are very cheap for what they can make. But digital surpassed the fidelity of 35mm film years ago, so instead of buying cheap old film gear + expensive macro scanning lens, why not just buy a good digital + lens?

DSLR scanning is only really good for 35mm. For MF and LF it’s cheaper, easier and better to just use a decent flatbed or dedicated scanner.

It was originally released along the D850 (which has an in-camera mode to invert the photos) but it should work properly with a D600, you'll just have to do it in post.

It's made to work with the 60mm f/2.8D or G (or 40mm f/2.8G DX) so you're golden.

Any idea how flat the scanning mask of the Es-2 is?
I use the Lomography 35mm scanning mask and it is not as flat especially on the middle.
Btw does using my iPad as a light source suffice?

My medium format and large format shots have earned their right to exist next to the shots from my a7 - or preferred in some scenarios. Even my 35mm shots do, from holidays where I'd rather not lug my good gear about, and importantly have fun.

In my experience my dslr scans beats my local developer and scanner store which has a Fuji frontier or something like that. The reason is probably they only give 2mp scans

I do it for the experience of shooting film, no matter how retarded that sounds it's enjoyable for me, in fact is one of the few things that make me happy in life at this point. I scan it with my phone camera though, I don't have another camera other than an analog.

The Fuji Frontiers usually can offer up to ~6000x4000 resolution for 35mm negs, i.e. close to 24MP.

The vast, vast majority of labs using Fuji scanners have no idea how to get a good image from them, they just whack on a preset at a painfully low res. I’ve tried to explain in the past to labs that you can get more out of them if you do it manually but they were having none of it. Even the cheapest flatbed will give you a better scan than your average lab.

You scan with DSLR because film is a superior format, but scanning is a pain in the ass. You get much worse results with your DSLR than a scanner, but it's fast and easy and good enough.
