I just ordered a bunch from canvaschamp because they're cheap and I needed 18 shots done for a school gallery. It kinda depends what you're looking for.

I use pro Epson ink jets. I try not to drop below 180ppi and prefer 240ppi or higher. Paper choice depends on scene.

I shoot 50mp so 36" "perfect quality" and 48" "good quality" by my ppi standards. My portfolios are 17x22.

I have my own 17" printer, go to outside labs for anything larger. But I do specifically look for Epson output on the papers I want, unless printing metal.

There’s a print shop down the street from me. Dirt cheap for decent IQ. I pay like $3 for a glossy 16x24. I actually just buy whatever size fits in ikea frames but I forget the exact dimensions.

It varies by printer. I like it for certain photos but usually looks cringeworthy.

Anyhow, I print gifts for family on Amazon because they're cheap as shit, easy, and my family doesn't care that they're only OK quality.

I like mpix for better quality stuff, and I use a local for things I'm printing for shows and stuff.

Glossy is fine if you're going to have it under glass, but print matte if there is ANY chance of a finger touching the photo.

Meaningless. You can upscale a sharp 8mp shot to 24mp, and you can easily have a blurry and unusable 48mp.

That's bullshit, 24 MP can print the square root of 2 times larger than 12 MP at the same DPI, meaning it can print about 1,4x as large on the longest edge as 12 MP.
And that's neglecting the fact that you can drop the DPI with larger print sizes.

In that case you can also print in 66,6x44,4 with 24 MP cameras.
But to be serious again:
The larger you print, the further the spectator usualy stands from the print and the less dpi he can see.
There is no need to print billboard size at 300 dpi, but for small prints you want that.
If that wasn't the case, all 4K TVs would have to be considered crap in therms of sharpness as they only have roughly 8 MP resolution at a much larger size.
