Is film just a temporary trend? If so, how much longer is it going to last?

I watched some videos on this topic yesterday and essentially, most people said that the people who get into film these days just do it for the aesthetics aka the sake of shooting film. I disagree, I think that most of these newcomers appreciate the intrinsic value of film and don't just use it as a personality trait.
