Am I retarded for agreeing to shoot a real estate video for an apartment using only a Tamron 28-75? Shoot is 6 hours away and I don’t have any other lens. It’s on an a7iii, and a friend was supposed to loan me a 14mm fisheye and he flaked.

That is stupid indeed, however you can make 28mm with a FF sensor work if you position yourself properly all the time.
However that requires proper planing ahead and you will need to run a lot close to the walls when changing perspective.
Try to film diagonal through the room and always stay close as fuck to the walls.
Instead of pan around, try walking walking a wide circle around and film from the edge through the center.

You'll be fine. Just do panos if needed. Bring a tripod though, for hdr and panos.

You dumb fuck. Do pano stitching with a tripod. It will work just fine as long as you remember to do two sets of upper and lower portions. It will give you more room for editing and correcting the inevitable clusterfuck of distortion you will get from the panos and wide angle

it will be troublesome without a real wide angle lens but 28mm will be doable. just make sure you client knows that you don't have the right gear for this but you will try your best

Some friend...drive to that fucker's house and borrow the lens. Anyway, next time secure the gear beforehand because if your client is knowledgeable and sees your kit, you might be fucked. Other than that, just do what anons have suggested and stitch your shots. Would also help if you shot a set horizontally and then vertically so after stitching you can choose which results look better.

Hobby-shooter here, and my first two homes were shot using this exact lens (Tamron 28-75mm). It was extremely frustrating shooting small bathroom. I ended up buying a Sigma 14-24mm after that.

That said, investing in a pro body and just 1 lens is a bit dim, if real estate is your gig, at least invest in an ultra wide, even a cheap one would keep the agency happy, after all, they sell houses not photography.

If it's crunch time, get to a camera shop and rent an ultra wide. Don't fuck up a paid opportunity because if word spreads, you have lost your credibility and you'll find it harder to land paid work.

Did you ask to see the plan of the property or any detailed dimensions just to see what you're dealing with.

The Tamron 17-28 is just as good frankly.

People exaggerate the difference between 14 vs 17.
In reality the 17mm is more like 16mm. When comparing them side to side there is only 2mm difference which isn't that much for 500 dollars of saving.
