Do these things go bad? I got this from a mentor, but when I ran it with displaycal on my ~7 year old IPS monitor, the profile it generated looked kinda red on every display I tried. It's internally a spyder 2.

correct me if Im wrong but play with the diff options (native vs 6500, v1, v2, etc) on the spyder software and save the .icm file from each setting. from the ideal setting you selected, calibrate again, save the icm files and select the one with the smallest delta. at least thats what I did. the older the monitor, theres the probability of less accuracy.

The Spyder 2 was discontinued in 2004. It was never intended to be used with modern displays.
The calibration coming out as too red is not an uncommon complaint.
There are several reason why it could happen:
>The older Spyders are known to shift color after a while.
>You fucked up the calibration settings.
>You are not used to calibrated displays and are confusing the slightly warmer tint as being too red.

The only way to be sure if the problem actually lies with the calibrator would be to verify with another one.
Either way it's an old piece of shit and you are better off buying a cheap new one and using it with displaycal.
