At the end of my review of the Sony RX1, I said all that we need now was a full-frame mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses and the DSLR could be left behind. The a7 and a7R are those cameras, and for most people and most uses, they easily replace a DSLR. Like the RX1, the a7/r aren’t without their faults, namely a poor autofocus system, poor battery life, still fairly high price tag, and very limited lens options. Many photographers might hesitate to jump ship right away — the a7/r aren’t ideal for sports photography and other specific disciplines — but once Sony builds out the lens options and improves the autofocus, it’ll be all but over. It might be a few years before we realize it, but when the DSLR is relegated to a niche status among specialty photographers and full-frame mirrorless cameras dominate the market, we’ll have the a7/r to thank as the cameras that started it all.

btw i'm not totally into sony, i also own d750, and want to buy eos m6 right now for some purposes (with sigma 56 1.4) but i was bashed for using sony so many times that it's my time for mirth (also i used 5dm2/6d in the past, great cameras both, 5dm2 is masterpiece of an engineering but that doesn't making canon users less annoying)
