The boomer that runs the local camera store will boomersplain basic shit to you like you're 5 even if you're doing your own repairs that he doesn't even offer and mixing your own chemicals that he hasn't stocked in 30 years. Hp5 is 8 bucks a roll and the only thing on display are point and shoots and vintage Tamron lenses new in box. Last time I was in there picking up a PC sync cable he tried to talk me into their color dev being cheaper than black and white and watched his merchant soul leave his body when I told him I'm developing for 12 cents a roll and getting 50mp scans. The look in his eyes when he saw the mamiya in my bag and the subsequent boomerism was priceless

Forgot to mention no matter how casual of a snapshit, there is ALWAYS a watermark. Usually it's "[First Name] [Last Name] Photography" or something like "My Mind's Eye" in cursive.

I would too but the reality is that most of them fucked up 20 years ago and never corrected their course. The only reason mine is still open is the guy owns the building. The little vintage display is nothing but dirt tier folders and brownies and the website is from when AOL was still a thing.

I fucking hate boomers

I hate that when I show one my photography or the prints I spent 3 hoursmaking in the darkroom their instant reaction is to bring up their fucking favorite photograph of a nuclear wasteland sky on an over-saturated pile of absolute fucking garbage as if its full of artistic talent. As if +100 saturation suddenly clicks and fills their dilapidated brains with serotonin. I hate that they think, simultaneously, that art is important while flicking through works of art as if they're subway sandwiches half off. Should they decide to become photographers, thats even worse because they will book weddings and events like they're gods gift to photography and provide the worst fucking images to grace this fucking land and then deign to sign it with Papyrus font watermarks.
I hate that they think they have valid opinions about politics, and think that someone who is talking about photography needs to hear their fucking political opinion about (Bernie/Warren/Trump/Weinstein/Elmo) whenever they feel like it.

If you want a legit answer it's because the picture is bad. The subject isn't in focus, the composition is ass, the right side of the frame is empty but the left is crowded, the background is shit, the subject is boring, and there are watermarks.
Your bird autism doesn't make a photo of a bird inherently good. It's the same reason a picture of someone else's kids are boring.

Sony menus are unintuitive and the glass is pretty trash. Also heard questionable things in regards to their weather sealing.
Apart from that they seem pretty ok, IQ seems nice from images I have seen online but unsure how much of that is post processing.

Those were my complaints for the most part, the rest was on their marketing and the sony roaches that eat it. Imagine m43 looking like a better prospect because of weather sealing, better glass, and menus that you only have to fuck with for 3 hours once. I did minus the weather sealing years ago and can't justify the switch now. Also bad colors vs too much color.
