>>3613878>>3613896If you were to try something like that I highly suggest you buy a couple cheap really old DSLRs and do the same thing with them. The tools and experience you gain from that will really go a long way towards not fucking up the more expensive camera. Some of those ribbons can be a major fucking pain to get back in.
Most people just remove the hot mirror and are done. This screws up autofocus, which is why that website shows replacing the hot mirror with another filter. Another website doesn't do that and instead they sand off 0.2mm from the flange lenses attach to in order to make up for the loss of the filter so that autofocus still works. So, whatever camera you want to do this on you should check out who has already done it and all the tips they have for doing it correctly.
I did this with a $14 camera the other day just as practice. It was a "for parts" camera that had water damage.
PROTIP: Take photos of the camera with every step. Mark screws alphabetically(A, B, C...) and place them on a diagram of the sections they come from each spot marked with their corresponding letters. Do this because some camera companies use a different length and/or screw thread for every god damn fucking screw like some fucking puzzle. So, if you just mix up the screws it'll take an hour or more to get it all back together without damaging something because the screw was the wrong one. Also fuck micro torx screw heads.
