For the record, I have an F100.
It is probably one of the best AF Nikon 35mm cameras money can buy on the merit of value, the grips are comfortable, the AF is from a D2XS so that isn't bad, the shutter is quiet as is the film transport mechanism, the body has a solid build and really the only fault with it is the plastic battery holder that breaks if you drop it, which I have. But that battery holder is a plus, as is the MB15 grip because it takes standard AA batteries and rechargeable batteries work in it too, so no more fiddling around with special batteries that quit at the best times.
If you want a Nikon 35mm you can just walkaround with and point and snap, the F100 is the way to go, there's a reason they are still 200 dollars. And compared to similar offerings (Canon EOS 5, 1N RS, F4-F6, Minolta Maxxum 9) it's a bargain. You are basically getting pro level build quality at a fraction of the price of their bigger brothers.
Save up and get one, you won't be disappointed.
