Anyone here have any experience with taking photos at the Melbourne Grand Prix?

I'm wanting to take some photos for the first time at the F1 and I've only been to the event once before years ago. I'm looking for advice on where the best spots are to get photos with a 70-200mm.

I'm also a poorfag so I have general admission tickets

Well I'd look at places where you have the cars coming towards you near corners if that is available to access. 2 and 7 for example. 2 would be nice in case of startcrashes but those don't really happen anymore. For inspiration you could look at soms old Melbourne F1 pictures and emulate that. There might be soms videos of F1 photographers (Sutton) you could watch as well to get an idea of how to approach F1 photography. Between 10 and 11 is nice as well but that might be too tight for a 70-200.

focus on pans with a 70-200 imo, there are some spots where you can get interesting effects panning really slow through crowds

you'll have the best luck on friday also imo

lowest crowds for f1 sessions, and cloudy conditions mean the fences are easier to deal with
not to mention rain shots looking hektik af

My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined. I was pretty excited to take photos this year, but so much for that I guess. Guaranteed that most of the crowd that would've gone this weekend had already gone to Moomba and they 100% got the corona from that anyways. Could've at least had an audience-free race.

pretty much an inevitability it was going to happen imo, a really bad time to be running such an international event
