I had an existential crisis the other night and it took me 3 days to realize that I had more fun taking photos when my “gear sucked”. Gear faggotry is pointless. Two of my favorite pictures were taken in Instagram. I then fell down a hole of gearfaggotry trying new cameras and lenses thinking that I could do better (I sold it all and lost maybe $50 no big deal) Let this be a warning to all faggots who think sensor size or brand matter, it doesn’t. A good photo is a good photo and you’re falling into a trap thinking you’ll be better with anything other than the one you have with you. Collecting gear is fun but it serves no purpose. All the paid gigs I get I hate the end result because 99% of the the time there is a time constrain and I am unable to apply almost any artistic vision to the end product because I’m capturing someone else idea of a moment rather than my idea of what is photo worthy. Fuck everyone and fuck their expectations. We take pictures for ourselves and no one else. If they don’t like it fuck em. I would rather keep this as a passionate hobby than sell my vision for a couple of likes on Instagram. Also thank you to the anon who told me to print my absolute favorites because it made me go through my catalog and realize all of this.
