>>3632747Can someone explain to me, with examples, what exactly makes CCDs better for photography compared to CMOS?
I believe it but I mean what's the difference?
I know CMOS are faster and I've seen some people doing "comparisons" but they're all comparing devices and not the sensor tech, and since devices alter the images in ridiculous ways (lol denoising, sharpening, s-curves) they can't truly be a good comparison. Only comparing equal sized sensors using equal lenses or something and checking out RAWs would suffice or someone who went through that and outlined shit.
What makes CMOS actually inferior?
I know CCD is like, better, and all the high end stuff uses it but what's the limiting factor in CMOS? Do they not do as good of a job capturing certain wavelengths or something? Is it just SNR ratios? Dynamic range?
