>>3634111I like to bash sony, but them going out is not good for whole business. They make nearly half all sensors, after all. Branching out is never a good sign. It's even worse when segments that are being branched out aren't doing well. Now, what is interesting, maybe even positive, is that foundry, Imaging & Sensing Solutions, that's sensor manufacturing, is not getting branched out. It still stays in house.
>>Sony Corporation announced that it would be splitting its Electronic Products & Solutions (EP&S) segment into a separate corporation titled Sony Electronics Corporation effective April 1st, 2020. The new holding company will cover Sony’s most extensive product lines and merge its Imaging Products & Solutions, Home Entertainment & Sound, and Mobile Communications and any related sales, marketing, manufacturing, procurement, and engineering platforms. What's bad is that cameras are in the same boat with fucked up phone division and just as struggling electronic appliances division. The idea behind branching in situations like that, is giving struggling segments unified leadership in hope it can turn it around, if that doesn't happen, it's easier to dismantle.
