>>3648162>Background compression will be noticeably differentNot him, but that's wrong.
Background compression depends on distance only.
No matter if you take a pic with a phone, M43, APS-C sensor, FF sensor or MF sensor or what kind of focal length.
I could take s picture of the same subject and background with all my lenses and bodies stopped down to the same aperture diameter, crop it to the same field of view and they would look almost identical with the eception that the wide angle lenses may be less sharp as I would have to crop the 18 mm far more than the 135 mm lens to archive the same field of view as my 200 mm lens.
Realisticly that isn't always possible as 18mm f/3,5 for example is an aperture of 5,14 mm wich would be f/39 for a 200 mm lens, wich is beyond of what most lenses can do.
But that's just for the depth of field, not the compression.
If I so desired, I could make the perspective of my camera look exactly like my phones.
To do so I would just need the same field of view aka focal length in 35 mm equivalent of about 28 mm or so and the same physical size of the aperture of about 2 mm or so.
For the phone that's around single digit mm focal length at f/1.4 to f/2 while it's 18 mm f/9 for APS-C or 28 mm at f/14 for FF.
