Compression is inherent to digital photography no matter the camera but some do it worse (by worse I mean like my photo) than others, and it is far more noticeable in low mega pixel sensors like the Sony MAVICA. Your phone is another good way to get this look, just underexpose, or shoot in low light then bring it back up in post to get similar artifacting and pixelation.
