Is my problem the body or the lens?

I’m brand new to all this and am focusing on fashion/portraiture. I was comparing the same shot (auto aperture manual focus in the exact same lighting) with my d3500 and stock kit lens (the smaller ones) and her Sony a6000 with a CCTV lens (wtf even is that?) and her camera was absolutely effortless with perfect bokeh and picked up the nice white lighting perfectly. My d3500 didn’t do terrible but the difference in photo quality was night and day. Was this because of the difference in lenses, body, or both? Also the a6000 is mirrorless correct? Could that be it? I don’t have the pictures to compare, apologies so pic unrelated

Also can someone explain what exactly a CCTV lens is?
