>>3662182>you miss focus as the focus plane isn't flatThe field of focus must describe a sphere around the back focal field to ensure that focus lock and recompose are consistent.
In practice, neither is given, and rather the field curvature has a negative effect on keeping sufficient focus from a lock and recompose. Funnily enough, I have a Sigma 35 f/1.4 where the outer focus fields are not reliable, like yielding out of focus results. I suspect it has something to do with distorted parallax or already vignetting.
>a7iii vs. d800 or 5divMan, those in contrast make a tough test, I'd be sure to take all, especially if the same lens park could be used without sacrificing performance. Call me a yesteryear's child, but I have a good feeling when I work with slrs and the conventional shooting. Maybe I'm just attuned to it after all these years, and of course biased, such that it's easy for me to disapprove of changes that come with a different camera, especially if the situation I come from suits me well.
The A7III does a lot of things right in terms of focus and continuous shooting. Not only that, they still use the contrast autofocus in parallel, have quick focus aquisition speed through phase detect, focus confirmation with both. I'd say it's a prime example where other mirrorless struggle, especially in similar price range.
I can't wait for everyone to step up a notch! Still it would make me happy if for a while there was still both.
