I personally think he's one of the best photography YouTubers, doesn't act like he's the king of photography (unlike almost everyone else), narrates his videos well, mostly shoots film and sometimes digital.
I don't like his images that much but some of them are great.

He's getting better and better. This shit is Oscar worthy. Shot on g80 with a kit pancake lens! I can't even imagine thinking how can he do it all alone, get high quality cinematograpy, all while getting pretty good film stills as well.

I love his no bullshit videos, the guy clearly knows what he's doing and I get a slight sense he is a bit cynical about the current youtube photography scene (you know, the dogshit-tier black and white pictures of lampposts or whatever) .

Great guy, great photographer.

Cool photos, I like his natural approach to digital colors for the most part which inspired me to scale down on the whole film look/grading in post. He doesn't misrepresent the scenes. Quite a diverse style too with very few calendar motif duds.

I don't think you're mad, why don't you go learn how to be mad on skillshare by using my affiliate code. I don't think he's mad. its pretty obvious that in any area of interest, people who appeal to the lowest common denominator and make the most sparse, surface-level shit often are the most popular, because its more accessible to regular people who don't troll obscure photo forums like /p/

Honestly I think the vast majority of "photographers" are just gear obsessed tech nerds.

1.) Videos and articles about gear tend to get far more responses and interaction than anything about actual photography. This happens on /p/ all the time.
2.) It's easier to talk about gear, and make endless technical demonstrations of the photos taken with said gear
3.) Talking about photography and giving solid critique, insight and analysis is far more difficult, and arguably not worth the time due to the amount of people who don't really push it beyond a surface level
4.) People are scared to post their own work, so they like to argue in gear threads and on forums about fucking camera gear.

Now I looked at his video, I know why he isn't a popular channel. The guy drones on about stuff, is a bit flat personality wise and overall his videos are boring.

The guy is a decent photographer but he is not a good actor / presenter or script writer, which are the other two sticks of the tripod he is missing in making good videos.

I enjoy his videos of walking around the countryside with a large format camera. And of course a lot of his work is great.
But you have to be in the mood for a slow style of video and have ten minutes set aside.

Yeah well...better than stupid jokes and jump cuts every ten seconds. You can tell most YouTubers try way too hard to be funny or "interesting", the enthusiasm usually feels so fake and obnoxious.
