>>3684316It is objectively the best 35mm AF SLR money can buy.
>>3684314That 28 is based on the old Series E 28 which was junk, almost as bad as the 43-86, I've done the 28mm Nikon shuffle (and ended up with a pre-AI 28/2) so here's my .02
Voigtlander makes a 28/2.8 pancake with wonderful optics and its actually smaller than the Series E 50 but they cost as much as a house
Sigma 28/1.8, a bit bulky but optically awesome. Best money/value option.
Nikon made a couple of manual focus 28s that were GOAT. The 28/2.8 AIs has 8 elements and objectively is the greatest 28mm Nikon ever made. Rockwell has a good review on it, I had one. You can zone focus it and it's wide enough at f/8 everything will be in focus. It has CRC
Your 28 is okay, if you don't point it at the sun or any bright points of light it ghosts like a bitch. It is reasonably sharp but the coatings on it are shit, I had one of those too.
Honestly though, if you want a good walkaround compact wide, get the 24 2.8 AF-D. It is tack sharp and I had one (sold it for my Sigma 24 1.8 EX) it is criminal how nice the optics are on that old lens. If I had to go backpacking in Europe and could only take one lens, that would be it.
