>>3681705>>3681690Usually when people say "photography isn't art" they are saying that it is lesser than art, it's a step down, it's not as refined. It's silly, because art is not an honorific term. Art is not only art if it's "good" or "well crafted" or "interesting". You can make art that, in the eyes of others, is bad or boring or mediocre. You can simply not care about a piece of art, be it music, a painting, a photograph, that is adored and admired by millions of others.
Either that, or the idea is that "art" is based on technical skill, but that really just goes back to whether or not it's an honorific term (it's not).
Art is simply something one does to express themselves, it can be visually, audibly, or in written words, or something else. It does not need to be laborious, tedious and time consuming. It does not need to involve hundreds of hours of practicing finer motor skills etc. That means anything from some kid's Sonic OC on DA to a Da Vinci painting is art.
