>>3684003The GH5S is not a traditional quad bayer sensor. The GH5S has Sony’s IMX294CJK sensor which bins the excess “quad bayer” color data in its normal mode. The sensor does have a quad bayer mode, which retains the data, but after extensive testing, it does not appear the GH5S has any mode that activates that feature. Sony’s IMX299CJK, is a full-time quad bayer sensor, that was originally believed to be inside the GH5S, which led to rumors of the camera being quad bayer. Sony’s a7siii is believed to be the first ILC that will ship with Sony’s quad bayer sensor. The current understanding, is that Sony wished to retain its quad bayer tech to its own cameras, for at least a limited time, as they did with the a7s’s 12MP sensor.
