Shooting at a yoga studio in 4 days.
I've done concert, bar/night club, wedding, fashion, astro, landscape, travel. But yoga is a new one
Any hot tips for me?

There was no reason to cut off half of her foot though. A simple 1 step back would have fixed the problem. Yoga is slow and you don't need to rush to snap photos. The focus is the shape and form of the body and they cut part of it off.

Just a combination of being lazy and not caring for simple composition.

It looks like the image was cropped to a square. The full format image was most likely 2:3 and therefore the feet weren't cut.

What are you shooting OP? A class full of people or posed pictures for the company?

Yoga studios either have beautiful natural lighting (due to huge windows) or SHIT lighting (people open studios at any box now) so prepare accordingly. It's not harder than nightclubs, so you'll be fine.

I got booked for 3 other shoots of of this.
one more yoga shoot next sunday.
a fantasy/ gypsy cosplay thing during the full moon 2 weeks from now,
and an ongoing editorial shoot/ interviews of the staff at a bar for their social media. This one appeals to me and is probably 8-9 paid shoots.

If you had an wider aperture lens, this photo would look a lot better. The fact that there is no separation from the subject and background is really making the image look flat.

You said you brought a flash with an orange gel but I don't see any flash happening.

Sad I didn't notice it right away.

The headstand one I was after this pose. I switched to the 85mm, 1.4 and had her came away from the background some more and I agree that worked better.

I think I will be more comfortable with the location next time

Also knowing what I know now about the location.
I will bring a 24mm or 35mm 1.4 and a second flash to use as a commander instead of relying on the wireless triggers that were letting the flash go to sleep.

There's a huge difference between actual yoga and the "yoga" that modern women does.

The thot-yoga is simply stretching and core training to excell at sex. And they get to wear skintight clothing. That means it's a portrait shoot for sexy instagram posts.
All that matters then is the subject which requires separation from the background.

Fast lenses, fill and rimlight and the mindset of a coomer to get the right camera angles.
