>>3689131Because it's using line skipping (I.e only reading every third line of pixels, and thus only a third of the sensor, and getting little better performance than m43.)
>>3689278>8k is the new standardLmfao, no it is not, to stream it will require a minimum of 50mbps, even at a low compressed bitrate. Hdmi 2.1 cables top out at 3 metres. An 8k uncompressed film won't fit on a Blu-ray. 8k has 0.2% market share of TV sales, 1080p still has nearly 50%. There are no cinemas with 8k projectors.
Before 8k becomes the standard the USA needs to update all its internet infrastructure, a new cable standard needs to be introduced, a new storage medium needs to be introduced, a new cinema projector needs to be released and widely adopted and 8k TV's need greater market penetration.
Now, bare in mind 4k is still the high end of standard, and 8k is in the same position 4k was in 8 years ago, and 8k is a much bigger hurdle in terms of infrastructure, we're not going there any time soon. Will Sony have an 8k Sony a7s camera in 8 years? Probably, but until then the best performing 4k is infinitely more useful.
