i have a degree in photography, but im embarrassed to ever bring it up. Im studying another degree so i can hopefully work in the media field with attractive qualifications, either as an editor, columnist, writer, photojournalism or any other commercial arts application.
But no, you dont need a degree for photography, if anything, a business degree on how to advertise and promote your work along with connections in the industry, socializing at gatherings and communicating your work effectively with a strong portfolio will get you work within a photography genre/niche. A certification alone doesnt mean anything and thats the case with all professions. You need to prove your worth and demonstrate that with your relevant audience.
Just start taking images like mad and if nothing happens it wasnt meant to be, dont quit your day job
