As long as you're not swinging your camera around your head as a weapon, you're not creating that crazy of a force. If you're concerned about it, stick to the manufacturer provided strap lugs to put that comfortable seat-belt feeling strap onto.
Even if you're using it as a regular strap, it still means you can swap it between multiple bodies and only pay for one or two "fancy" straps.
