As mirrorless becomes the standard, Pentax will live on as the sole purveyor or DSLR cameras. I think it will be a profitable nice for them, since lots of people claim to hate EVFs. I don't understand why you wouldn't want to see what the image will look like before you press the shutter, but boomers gonna boom.

With pentaprism you can only compose the image, while with EVF you can ALSO:
- See how much DOF will you have
- How the colors will be represented
- How overexposing or underexposing will affect your image.

Is like saying is normal for people to prefer mechanical typewriters to computers to write text.

Even if MFT is dead, I am still biying the 12-40 f2.8 pro lens next month. It will most likely be the last MFT I get, but I still think the format is enough for a hobbyist like me.

Pv shows DoF in a pentaprism. I'll say though that EVFs caused me to think differently about exposure when I tried them. I found myself ignoring the exposure meter altogether when shooting manual and it was nice to just look at the scene. The latency and banding just killed it for me though.

Those three pics look almost identical. Wouldn't cropping the images to match undo the effect of the larger sensor? You should switch lenses to match instead.

Is it really that good for macro? I currently do quite a bit of macro with my kit lens (14-42 mm) and the cheap 40-150 with some cheap extension tubes. I was thinking about getting the 60 mm macro, but I would prefer to get a more versatile lens.

Face it EVF is inferior technology.

The true upgrade will be when optical view finders can be switched to an EVF by pressing a button to chimp then you release the button and it goes straight back to OVF. That way you spend 95% of your time on OVF but have EVF as a temporary option to chimp.

that's just a Fuji hybrid viewfinder with extra steps

really, what does the fuji hybrid view finder do?
My perfect view finder is 100% OVF, with a button you hold down to see 100% EVF.
is that how fuji operates? if so i might have to investigate buying one

it's an OVF (rangefinder style, not TTL, but it does have parallax correction) with the option to pull up a miniature EVF in the lower right corner (this can show the full image or a zoomed in view of where your AF zone is) or the option to turn into a normal EVF with a different lever push
