On paper they sound good giving the user different image ratios, showing the histogram etc. but I heard the D800 series by nikon also does that with an OVF + another layer. Could be cool for black and white previews I guess. Love me pentaprism pentax. Simple as.

Most EVF's aren't that good.

The ones I have experience with:
Fuji X100F: Shit, woudn't use the EVF
Fuji X100V: "ok", its decent. But OVF > EVF
Sony A7RIV: Pretty good, sharp and good colours.

I've heard that Nikon's EVF is pretty decent as well, not sure about the others.

Try to find a camera with EVF that supports 100/120Hz though, 50/60Hz EVF's make me a bit dizzy too.

The thing that pisses me off with Fuji EVFs is not really being able to tell what my actual exposure/histogram will look like when I open up the raw files because the EVF image always has the film sim profile baked in.

Like I said earlier the X100V improved on the EVF part, but when I was using the X100F it fucked me over.

Kept thinking images were overexposed by looking on the EVF so I compensated for it, but it was just the shit EVF. When at home everything was underexposed by quite a bit.
You only make this mistake once though, but why put an EVF on there if its shit.. I don't get it

It's an EVF. It's more accurate than a rangefinder mechanism. The only difference is that it's more accurate and is located in the lower right corner instead of the center.

EVFs can't inaccurately show focus. It's literally TTL.

Some people just aren't cut out for Fuji, like people that can't figure out that you want to create a flat jpeg profile if you need to pay attention to the histogram.

Can't imagine buying a camera and not learning the depth of its menus and configurations before getting mad at it.
