If you're a photographer who just shoots some stills from landscapes, architecture and objects, is there any feature out there which you really need?
Other than the obvious low light performance what would a high end 2020 camera offer you over a mid tier 2016 one? Has stills photography outside of tracking moving objects been perfected?

Pretty much, like you say, outside of af improvements.

Really all the improvements you get are "quality of life" improvements. They just make things a bit easier, or a more pleasant experience. That's great, but probably not worth ditching your camera and spending another grand on a new one for.

It's one of the reasons why the camera market is suffering (for most people there really is no point in upgrading your camera), and why everyone (except based Pentax) is jumping on the vide and mirrorless trains: it's the latest technological pissing contest to keep consoomers consooming

I still use a 2014 camera, is like to upgrade though. You’ll end up wanting to shoot more than just landscapes though. Landscapes like nice sharp detail and DR. Someone dedicated to landscapes is likely to travel, so could make better use of better AF to get things they see along the way they might not have expected or anticipated.

Perspective {shift,correction,level,lock,tracking} aids by means of IBIS, in general more info regarding manual focus and improved settings handling with manual focus (see Ricoh GR), sensor shift, DOF aids or DOF priority exposure mode, interval and bulb timers, automatic exposure bracketing to capture the available DR, highlight exposure metering, buffer modes to easily choose and only keep the best shots/situation from a burst, vaster in camera image processing (See e.g. Fuji and their DR options), more buttons and in-depth customization options plus initial guides (maybe an online guide upon a website from a tabled or computer) to set up the camera appropriately to then after customization avoid complex menus.

(Online) camera settings syncing. I'd love camera modes to be the other way round: In the foreground mainly Custom Modes to set up and quickly choose from. The conventional modes in the background, if needed boxed into a single mode where you select the mode with the UI or buried somewhere else in the menu.

I'm sure I'll come up with something else, but I'm leaving now.

I shoot the same, and for me focus stacking/bracketing are a most.
That along with focus peaking for my poor eyesight are the only things i would like in my next upgrade to mirrorless.
Maybe a high-res mode (resolution composite) but i rather have the others.
