It’s a fuck up, and the headlines had me panicking more than necessary, since I updated yesterday (but hasn’t opened it yet) but to 5.4.1 not 5.4.0 which has the issue. It’s also only a catastrophe if you stored your original raws solely on your device and with no backup.

I do also have most of them download to desktop too, to an external HD, I should update that backup.
Let this be a lesson, you all should have some kind of backup that’s disconnected from the software and OS (eg a raid1 isn’t a backup, as whatever happens happens to both drives identically).
I’ve lost lots of photos before, in like 2008, a backup will save you.

When they have those two things and ability to proof and distribute photos from the cloud synced photos without having to manually export and upload jpgs to somewhere then I’ll be interested
