Because you had the options of buying cheap Chink shit lenses or something like the 90-250mm
There were only 4 midrange lenses ever made and one of which heavily overlapped the standard zoom, but it was slightly wider.

He is talking about the E series, not the EM series.
The E series was a fourthirds DSLR system before Oly and Pana joined forces and went to MFT and mirrorless.

Also: mft lenses have great optical quality and are cheap as hell. They feel plasticy and weird though. Especially that 40-150 one. It's insanely sharp but weew the plastic body feels flimsy as hell.

For 99 bucks brand new you can't do better. Bought one to take on vacation and was very pleasantly surprised. Still have it despite using the Panasonic 35-100 f2.8 most of the time. Just in case I'm in a situation I don't wanna risk damaging it.

I used an e510 up until 2018, I considered getting new lenses but they didn't seem cheap enough to consider sticking with it instead of getting a newer body. Entry level mft are really affordable now and are probably much more advanced.

If you don't care about video, they're fine.
They have the durability of the E-M1 series but with the added weight of a mirror box, so it can make a good weapon against intruders when you're not taking pictures

Honestly it's been a bit. I had some issues with the rotating back where the shutter wouldn't fire unless it was in the portrait position. Then the screws that hold the pentaprism in stripped out when it took a fall in the mountains. Then I had a spare body I bought that ended up being junk and its pentaprism posts were junk so I had to drill out the posts and tap computer laptop screws in and now it's fixed. Then I re-did the seals on it and I've shot a couple test rolls recently, but honestly i've been building a 4x5 system and I want to focus on that.
