In that picture the sun is just out of the shot. If it was there it would be completely different. You would likely have badning issues especially. I'm not saying it's a bad sensor just that it's obvious why the sun is not in th frame.

This. Also when you downsample picture from 45 to something like 20 or 12 mpx picture will be way more detailed than anything 20/12mpx could ever produce. Also extra mpx good for noise reduction as when you downsample noise reduced image you won't introduce as much softness. It's really winwin situation if you have sharp lenses.

This is a common myth. A sharp lens is a sharp lens. Sharpness is not resolution. Glass determines sharpness not sensor. There is an argument to be made about getting the most out of a high res sensor with sharp lenses and vice versa but still.

Lens affects sharpness far more than sensor though. Even a 100 MP sensor without AA isn't doing anyone any good with a shit lens.
