We all hear here and elsewhere from time to time that gear doesn't matter and it is about going out and shoot. Which is true of course. But there is more to it: Maybe you already have noticed, that the statement 'everything is authorized but nothing is possible' is today more accurate than ever before. We got access to everything (especially technology) but we can't do stuff with it. Which means we cannot realize anything with it more than developing skill an knowledge. But making something which gets recognized or even making a half decent living out of it? Forget it.
This situation also leads to the effect, that due to nothing is possible or realizable, everything loses its functional value. Instead it gets a pure symbolic value. You don't hit the gym to be strong but to look good. You don't get a camera because you need its technical functions but to obtain a specific self-picture or image. Having gear is a symbolic condition.
And that's not a coincidence. The same peolpe who take care that you can't realize anything and stay stuck in the symbolic life, are the ones who make you think that a symbolic life would be a appropriate alternative for a real life. And these are the same people who make a clever biz out of it and (in this case) load gear with symbols. And you buy it. Because everytime you do, you feel like you get a little part of the everlasting illusion, that the (accummulation of the) right gear will one day allow you to live the confident life you dream about.
So you end up in a never-ending circle of illusions and lose a huge amount of shekels with it. And somebody is really happy about that.
My wish would be, that you start to resist. The world is freaked up and the only thing seems left is to resist. Refuse to consume! Refuse to work! If nothing is possible then don't do anything.
